just drove 15 mph all the way home from my dad’s office party in bethesda and spun out twice. although the DC area looooves freaking the fuck out over snow, this shit is f’real. i did, however, make the necessary detour to get my anchor steam ale. i may not take many things seriously, but i certainly will risk the life of my sister and i for good beer.

cleveland: holy shit. my clothes smell like what i image winston churchill probably smelled like. i learned that lakewood is pretty cool, and not to do a double shot of whiskey after drinking a 40 and a 32 ounce labatts. i’ve also learned that there’s good reason for avoiding cold taco bell for breakfast. good times, great people, excellent house show.

chicago: you’re a cold mistress chicago, but damned if you don’t always show me a good time. i love you almost as much as i love your hot dogs and piece pizza on milwaukee and north avenue. this week three floyds brewery’s ham-on-rye made it into my top 5 beers without a doubt. i will be living in you very shortly if all goes according to plan.

post script: you know those car commericals or shitty nickelback-esque band photos where there’s just a long ass road in the middle of nowhere that looks like it goes on forever? thats in indiana. stopped in athens last night, had me a lonely whiskey sour and a blatz, then went back to the house and finally wrote some new music. i love 15 morris more than anything, but that house is creepy when you’re in it by yourself alone at night.

norma was fast asleep when i got back to maryland, but woke up and greeted me with a couple curiosity sniffs and a lick.

time to rage it up in dc for the next few weeks, very thankful to be home in one piece. oh yeah, and we’re supposed to get totally fucked by snow this weekend. woooo!

so, after some killer pizza on milwaukee, excellent beer (three floyd’s ham on rye, oh my god), cool exploring, fun bus rides and L trips, zach and i went to see the mountain goats at what i thought would be a huge, packed venue. turns out it was just john darnielle with a guitar in a tiny little theater. that dude is incredible. not only was he funny and witty as fuck, but he just seems like the most genuine dude ever.

he played a killer set, and then since the event was for charity, he then started taking request for donations. hearing him sing ‘house guest’ a capella for $200 was one of the most creepy and awesome things i’ve ever seen.

i think it’s pretty far settled that i’ll be moving here after i graduate. god dammit i love this city!

took a gamble and bought this at the liquor store…i am pleased. a little fruitier than i normally go for, but hey, lets be honest, fruity shit tastes pretty goddamn good sometimes. it’s brewed out in portland too, so you know its pretty solid.
